Scuba diving in South-East Lombok ranges from exciting to challenging “adrenalin dives”!
Around the rather remote bay of Belongas, the dive sites “The Magnet“ and “The Cathedral“. These pinnacles present themselves as pristine with an abundance of marine life. The seasonable sighting of schooling barracudas, tunas, and other pelagic life is fairly regular, and apart from the mobula- and eagle ray season during September, hammerheads have the tendency to sometimes school around the Magnet end June until early November. As currents and dive conditions in south east Lombok can at times be quite challenging, we recommend diving “The Magnet” only to the more experienced diver! Minimum Prerequisites for diving the “Magnet” and the “Cathedral” are a advanced certification and, from November until end April, 50 logged dives. From May until end October, 100 logged dives. We reserve the right to ask for a check dive before diving at these dive sites.
We also offer diving at Belongas Bay as day trips starting from Senggigi, Sekotong, as well as from Kuta, Lombok. However, we suggest that you book a minimum of 2 days and 1 night at Belongas, if you want to “definitely” dive at “The Magnet” or at "The Cathedral". We can not guarantee that the water conditions allow us to go out to these dive sites if arriving late from the mentioned destinations.

From July until November the conditions around Kuta are occasionally subject to rougher seas, and from December until May one can find perfect conditions for scuba fun at pristine reefs, well suited for divers of all levels. The reefs are very intact, and apart from the many colorful reef fish, there is an abundance of macro life, crabs and lobsters to be found. With a little luck, also the one or other pelagic can be found cruising through the blue water!
In Kuta you’ll can also find many activities for the non-diver or just to pass the time. Explore the area by motorbike or on horse back, play beach volleyball and much more. The choice is yours! Kuta also presents itself very welcoming, and you’ll find many small restaurants and cafes with tasty international and Indonesian food. Let yourself be spoiled by the friendly population of Kuta, Lombok!

Swell and Wind Forecast for South Lombok!
As the swell and winds are a big influence on the diving conditions, we have integrated the swell charts for Kuta (Lombok) and Dessert Point. Kuta is 1 hour boat ride from Belongas Bay, so also quite accurate for the conditions there, and Dessert Point is the indicator for Sekotong. In general one can say, with a swell 7 ft and smaller, or winds not exeeding 12 mph, the conditions will be quite good.
